ComEd should fix Mundelein grid
ComEd, wake up. I am an unfortunate resident of the ComEd power grid bordered by Midlothian Rd-west, Killarney Pass-north, Rt. 45-east, and Park St.-south.
This grid contains approximately 530 homes and 20 businesses. It is the weakest grid in Mundelein. In 2011, there were close to a dozen outages, and in 2012 there have been five or six already.
These outages usually include a “brownout,” and there are one or two “restarts” before power is fully restored. These surges are damaging our electronics and appliances. There are only three factors that would contribute to this problem: 1) There are either malfunctioning components in the grid or trees obstructing wires. Solution- Fix the components or trim the trees. 2) Field personnel are incompetent. Solution- Retrain or replace personnel. 3) The engineer for this grid is incompetent. Solution- Retrain or replace engineers.
I’ve called numerous times. ComEd doesn’t care. Wednesday night an operator told me to call Thursday and ask for a supervisor or engineer and file a report. I was told Thursday morning by a very abrasive woman that there is no supervisor to talk to, no engineer, and no in-person appointments at the facility are allowed.
If you are sick of belonging to a group that has to worry every time there is more than a light rain, light snow, or light wind, call ComEd and complain.
There is absolutely no reason for one section of Mundelein failing while the remainder of the town is powered. Something needs to be done immediately.
