Warm welcome to Jewish Republicans

I found most gratifying Kerry Lester’s report on the movement of Jewish voters to the Republican Party. I do think that this represents ‘change we can believe in,’ since the election of Barack Obama to the presidency. But this trend started long ago. Many Jewish persons have switched to the conservative side of the political divide.

Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard (the “Austrian School”) have written seminal analyses of economic theory which Republicans, such as Ronald Reagan, have adopted as their own. Ayn Rand, not exactly a Republican, has also exposed of the absurdities inherent in the politics and economics of the Democratic Party.

Milton Friedman (Nobel Prize) and Frederick Hayek (Nobel Prize) showed us the close relationship between big government and serfdom. Other accomplished Jews who have joined either the Republican or conservative cause include David Horowitz, who was a card-carrying commie; Michael Medved, famous for his movie reviews, worked for Dem presidential candidate George McGovern; Dennis Praeger, a radio analyst; Michael Savage, an expert in botanical anthropology and radio commentator; and Dick Morris, who helped Democrat Bill Clinton win the White House.

Bernard Nathanson, who founded the NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) and actually aborted his own son, not only converted to the Pro Life cause but also to Catholicism. All I can say to the new Republicans is, “Welcome Home!”
