Hanover Twp. panel awards grants to agencies
The Hanover Township Mental Health Board awarded capital grants to three local nonprofit agencies totaling over $21,800.
St. Alexius Medical Center was awarded a $5,000 capital grant for its new Women and Children’s Hospital currently under construction in Hoffman Estates. The funds are designated to help build the new Center for Pediatric Brain to help children with neurological and developmental disorders receive premiere medical services in our community.
The board also awarded Renz Addiction Counseling Center a $15,000 capital grant to be used for renovations for their clinical services building in Elgin. Funds will be used for reconfiguring office space to allow for better security and increased confidentiality with clients.
Maryville Academy received a $1,800 in funds to go toward new sensory image therapy rooms for its campus in Bartlett.
“The board is proud to support these agencies that provide valuable services to our residents,” said Brian Gorcowski, chairman of the Hanover Township Mental Health Board. “Capital grants insure that the agencies we support have the appropriate equipment and facilities needed to properly care for our neighbors.”
The volunteer board advocates for increasing the availability and quality of mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services by allocating funds to nonprofit agencies that provides services to township residents. Last year, the board approved over one million dollars in funds to local agencies.
The board meets the fourth Tuesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m., at the township offices, 250 S. Route 59 in Bartlett.
