Walsh shows he supports veterans

I have four brothers who served in the military and were all honorably discharged. Two served in combat and one gave it all. I recently attended a town-hall meeting conducted by Congressman Joe Walsh and would like to state that the congressman consistently begins public town halls with the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America. He then requests that all veterans please stand and accept a warm acknowledgment from the audience to witness our country’s heroes.

I have several very good friends who are veterans at VFW Post 9775, and to me they are all heroes. In the many years I have known them, they don’t talk much about their service or ailments unless I inquire (reference scripture Jeremiah 9:22: true glory).

The news media have come out recently speaking very negatively about Congressman Walsh when referring to Tammy Duckworth in a way that would suggest she and the media overplay her service. Honorable military service and associated combat wounds are often a private matter, typically made public when recognition is afforded by those that would genuinely honor. Joe Walsh has repeatedly supported veterans and would certainly not disrespect Ms. Duckworth and fellow veterans for their countless sacrifices.

The sooner we focus on the pressing issues facing our economy and less on the political props that sway public opinion, the sooner we can get our country back on track.
