A vote for Romney is bad for health
A vote for Romney is bad for health
Next year, let’s say that your wife finds out she has multiple sclerosis or breast cancer, truly a devastating and tragic event in any family. Mitt Romney can write a check for the finest health care that money can buy, which is a good and fortunate position to be in. Or, perhaps a “Taj Mahal” insurance plan would cover the majority of the associated expenses, which also would be a good and fortunate position to be in.
But the accident of birth does not leave most of us in such blessed positions, so what are we to do? First we can pray that we have any health insurance at all. Our next hope is that we do not surpass the maximum coverage and get dropped. We can also hope that the insurance company doesn’t try to pull the old “pre-existing condition” rabbit out of the hat as they are so prone to do.
But most of all you can hope that Mitt Romney does not win in November. The Republicans have promised to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. In Republican speak, repeal means get rid of it immediately and replace means they can procrastinate for the next couple of decades as they have so vividly demonstrated in the past.
If you are going to vote for Romney this fall please remember to make sure you have enough ammunition so that you don’t run out while you are shooting yourself in the foot. Better make sure you have enough for both feet while you’re at it.
