Follett Software partners with content providers

PRNewswire

McHenry-based Follett Software Company has announced a first round of partnerships with leading providers to sell third-party digital content.

Follett Software, part of the Follett School and Library Group that also includes Follett Library Resources, Follett Educational Services and Follett International, says the partnerships are reflective of a larger digitally focused initiative to strengthen the connection between the library and the K-12 classroom curriculum.

The third-party content is specially selected and provided by Follett to make districts’ digital library more robust, with information available from top providers across a multitude of subjects and specialized disciplines. The databases are now available for purchase for current Destiny and Aspen customers, and students and educators are offered an integrated search experience, maximizing content investments and promoting greater usage.

Follett Software’s initial five digital content partners are:

Ÿ Soundzabound, a digital content subscription that provides students and staff access to royalty-free audio that meets all licensing requirements for grades K-12. Soundzabound royalty-free music is a copyright compliant solution for all multimedia uses that will guard against copyright infringement.

Ÿ CountryReports, a digital content subscription that provides students and staff access to 35,000 pages of online content covering culture, countries, geography, social studies, history, the United States, and current events. Content is available in Spanish, French and German.

Ÿ A.D.A.M. Interactive Anatomy, digital content subscriptions that provide students and staff access to engaging interactive online resources for teaching and learning of: anatomy, physiology, clinical applications, allied health, and health education topics. ŸTeachingBooks.net, a digital content subscription that provides students and staff with instructional materials that add a multimedia dimension to the reading experience. TeachingBooks’ online database is developed and maintained to include thousands of resources about fiction and nonfiction books used in the K-12 environment, with every resource selected to encourage the integration of multimedia author and book materials into reading and library activities.

Ÿ ABC-CLIO — a digital content subscription that provides students and staff access to online resources offering authoritative, continually up-to-date coverage of essential topics in U.S. history and government, world history, geography, and a range of multicultural and popular culture subjects.

“Both Follett Software and ABC-CLIO are committed to inspire the next generation of learners,” said Harry Barfoot, vice president of sales and marketing for ABC-CLIO. “We have more than 55 years of history delivering deep, authoritative content in the social sciences. This can now be delivered, seamlessly, through advances in technology delivery, including through Follett’s integrated Destiny and Aspen solutions.”

Lisa Blakely, Follett Software product manager, said more third-party content providers will be announced soon, and added that a school district’s integration can range from authentication within Follett’s products to customized delivery of content within the company’s systems.

“Digital content solutions are critical tools for schools and districts that want to be at the forefront of digital learning, and partnerships with leading content providers will help our customers make the most of their educational resource investment,” Blakely said. “We cut through the clutter and confusion surrounding digital content to provide the best content from the top educational providers, and continually review it to ensure it’s reliable and relevant.”
