Mount Prospect Gearing up for Downtown Block Party

On Friday and Saturday, July 27 & 28, the Village of Mount Prospect and the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the 13th Annual Mount Prospect Downtown Block Party. The party will be held at the intersection of Emerson Street and Busse Ave. in downtown Mount Prospect. New this year – the addition of Friday night, and expanded Saturday hours in addition to a really hot lineup of bands. The party begins on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and goes until 11:00 p.m. Saturday opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at 11:00 p.m.

Admission is free. Scheduled entertainment includes:

FRIDAY

5:00pm Diving for Dynamite

7:00pm Rod Tuffcurls & The Bench Press

9:00pm Sixteen Candles

SATURDAY

5:00pm Stockwood

7:00pm Frye Daddy

9:00pm Mike and Joe

Restaurant vendors include Capannari Ice Cream, Crave Pizza, Tony Sacco's Coal Oven Pizza, Photo's Hotdogs, Panda Express, Olympus Gyros, Culver's, Mia's Cantina, Mount Prospect Jr. Women's Club, Billy Goat Tavern and Grill.

FREE Kids' Activities will be held from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and will include a Moonwalk, Pony Rides, Mini Ferris Wheel, Trackless Train, Giant Slide, Face Painting, Stilt Walkers and more!

Family Entertainment, performances and kid's sports demos will be held on the main stage from 12 – 4 p.m. on Saturday.

FREE Parking for the event is available in the East Commuter Lot (Northwest Highway) and in Village Hall Parking Deck (Emerson Street). The event is also accessible via Metra (Union Pacific Northwest Line, www.metrarail.com).
