Lake in the Hills Ribfest to feature car show, music

Lake in the Hills Rockin’ Ribfest continues from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 7 and 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road, Lake in the Hills. Admission is $5 for ages 13 and older; those 12 and younger are admitted free but must be accompanied by an adult; admission is free to those in active military with a military ID.

This family-oriented event will feature nationally renowned professional ribbers and family entertainment. Experience some of the best grillers and BBQers in the country, as well as other favorites like funnel cakes, homemade lemonade, roasted corn and more.

The Rockin’ Ribfest is the signature fundraising event for the Lake in the Hills Rotary Club. The club is a service organization made up of business and professional leaders that donate money and time to local community organizations through its fundraising efforts. Your participation in this event will help assure that the people and organizations in need of help will get the resources they need.

Stop by the fifth annual Rockin’ Ribfest Car Show from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7. There will be free soft drinks, plaques and goodies to all participants. Registration takes place the day of the event. Load-in begins at 11 a.m. Trophies will be awarded to:

Best in Show; 1959 and Before; 1960 to ’70s; 1980 and after; and Import.

Musical entertainment on Saturday will start with The Stingrays from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by Hot Rocks from 3:45 to 5:45 p.m.; Separate Ways: The Journey Experience from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and Foghat from 9 to 10:30 p.m.

On Sunday, enjoy a performance by Svengoolie from noon to 2 p.m., followed by Chicago Tribute Anthology from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and 7th Heaven from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. For details, visit lithribfest.com.
