Andre Dawson book signing
Former Chicago Cubs great and Hall of Famer Andre Dawson will sign copies of his new memoir, “If You Love This Game: An MVP’s Life in Baseball” at the Vernon Hills Sam’s Club on Monday, July 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sam’s Club is at 335 N. Milwaukee Ave. In the book, Dawson offers a behind-the-scenes look at a dedicated baseball player’s journey from a segregated Miami neighborhood to Cooperstown. He overcame the odds and went on to be named the National League Rookie of the Year in 1977, earn eight All-Star appearances, eight Gold Gloves and a Most Valuable Player Award. Dawson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010 after a long career with teams such as the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and Florida Marlins.
