Winfield man gets 30 years for molesting three children

A Winfield man who prosecutors said repeatedly molested three young girls to “satisfy his own vile sexual desires” was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison.

Donald Grischow, 59, pleaded guilty in February to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was sentenced by DuPage County Judge Robert Kleeman.

Between 2006 and 2010, Grischow repeatedly abused the victims at his home while he was supposed to be looking after them, prosecutors said. Court records identified the victims as between the ages of 3 and 7 at the time.

Grischow came under investigation by Winfield police and the DuPage County Children's Center after one of the victims told her grandmother she was sexually assaulted.

State's Attorney Robert Berlin called Grischow a “sexual predator, plain and simple.”

“First, he took advantage of the trust placed in him by his victims' parents. He then took advantage of these children in unimaginable ways, all to satisfy his own vile sexual desires,” Berlin said, crediting the victims for their courage. “He stole his victims' innocence and for that he will pay a significant price.”

By law, Grischow must serve more than 24 years before he is eligible for parole.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State's Attorneys Enza LaMonica and Anne Therieau.
