'The Great Snipe Hunt' to be staged at Cantigny
Tickets are now on sale for “The Great Snipe Hunt,” an outdoor roving theater performance amid Cantigny Park's gardens.
Performances begin at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, June 30 and July 1. The event is recommended for families with children ages 5 and older.
Presented by the cast and crew of Lake Forest-based Citadel Theatre Company, “The Great Snipe Hunt” is about an adventurous girl who goes on a quest in the Wild Woods and meets a ragged band of fantastic creatures inspired by folklore and tall tales.
It's a lighthearted story delivered by professional actors who will move about the Cantigny grounds, performing in different settings.
“The Great Snipe Hunt” is produced by Heather Meyers, with original adaptation by MEH Lewis.
Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased in advance at the Cantigny Park Gift Shop or parking booth. In addition, through Monday, June 25, tickets may be ordered online at Cantigny.org or by phone at (630) 260-8162.
A limited number of tickets are expected to be available on the day of the performance. Parking is free for ticketholders.
Seating for the moving performance is on the lawn, so spectators are encouraged to bring blankets or lightweight portable chairs. Water bottles also are recommended.
Cantigny Park is open every day this summer from 7 a.m. to dusk. A complete schedule of concerts, workshops and special events is posted online at Cantigny.org.
