Schaumburg A.M. Rotary awards grants supporting local students, charities and international causes

The Rotary Club of Schaumburg A.M. culminated a year of giving at its June 13th Community Grant Awards Breakfast. This year, the club donated over $22,000 to various organizations who provide a broad range of services in our local community and around the world.

During its 22 year history this club has donated more than $400,000 to address a wide variety of humanitarian concerns found both in the Northwest Suburbs and worldwide.

Locally grants were awarded to –

• Alfred Campanelli YMCA

• Child's Voice

• The Children's Advocacy Center

• District 214 Read-to-Learn Adult Literacy Program

• Women in Need Growing Stronger (WINGS)

• Winston Churchill Elementary School Reading Program

• Cub Scout Pack 394

• Boy Scout Troop 193

• St. Hubert Job & Networking Ministry Program

• Operation Warm for the benefit of the Marletta Darnall Schaumburg Child + Family Center

International grants were presented in support of -

• Polio eradication through The Rotary Foundation's PolioPlus program

• Feed My Starving Children, who provides life giving nutrition to mal-nourished children all over the world

The club sponsored the participation of four area high school students at the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) three day leadership development camp held annually at Camp Edwards in East Troy, WI and provided $4,000 in vocational scholarship assistance to three area residents.

Additionally Schaumburg A.M. Rotarians donated $2,000 to the Schaumburg Twp. Food Pantry and supported this year's Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Memorial Day Observance.

During the holiday season the club contributed stocking stuffer items to Hoffman Estates based Fellowship Housing, an organization dedicated to serving at-risk single mothers and their children, and supported the Alfred Campanelli YMCA's Super Santa Program that provides gifts for children and families who cannot afford them.

Rotary is a worldwide network of inspired individuals who translate their passions into relevant social causes that change lives in communities. Membership is open to service oriented residents and workers in the area. Schaumburg A.M.
