Palatine Park District presents free ‘Sounds of Summer’ Concert Series

Palatine Park District presents the 25th anniversary season of the Sounds of Summer Concert Series with an all-new lineup selected by our loyal audience. All performances are free, pack a picnic, pull up a lawn chair, and enjoy your summer evenings at the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater, 262 E. Palatine Road.

Performances begin at 8 p.m. and run approximately 90 minutes. In the event of inclement weather, performances will be canceled. Call the recorded message at (847) 705-5123, ext. 431, for weather related cancellations.

Friday, June 22: The Neverly Brothers, you will be transported back in time when American Rockabilly pioneers were laying the foundation of rock and roll and young British pop bands were emulating the sounds of these rock forefathers.

Wednesday, June 27: Jack Salamander, tasteful and filled with the magical experience of the unexpected, Jack Salamander has a unique approach to soulful, funky songs that will make you move, make you think, make you laugh.

Wednesday, July 11: Palatine Concert Band, Palatine’s own 90-member ensemble will present an evening of light summer fare with a variety of selections ranging from classical to popular.

Friday, July 20: Triadd performs fun, high-energy classic rock favorites in an electroacoustic format. And get this; three out of the four musicians grew up in Palatine.

Wednesday, July 25: The Palatine Park District’s own Children’s Concert Choir, under the artistic direction of Sue Falbo, will present their 17th concert on the Fred P. Hall Amphitheater stage.

Friday, July 27: Bopology, Foot tappin’ swing music from the 30s, 40s and 50s with singing like Frank Sinatra and the big band style of Duke Ellington.

Wednesday, August 1: Palatine Concert Band, a 90-member ensemble, will present an evening of light summer fare with a variety of selections ranging from classical to popular.

Friday, Aug. 3: Ronnie Rice picked up a guitar when he was 16 years old. He began his musical career as a solo performer in Evanston. In the late 1960s, Ron joined the Chicago-based group The New Colony Six and sang lead vocals on many of their hit records.
