Hanover Twp. seeks school supplies, backpacks

Hanover Township is seeking donated school supplies and backpacks for students this fall.

Due to the current economic crisis, food pantry usage has increased dramatically, serving as many as 1,000 families monthly, and officials anticipate the number of children needing school supplies will rise, as well.

Most needed items include backpacks, notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, flash drives, blue pens, glue sticks and gift cards for buying other school items.

Donations can be dropped off at the township offices, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett; Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., Hanover Park; and the Township Community Relations Office, One American Way, Elgin.
