Vernon Hills restaurant fined:

A Vernon Hills restaurant was fined $2,000 and ordered to return in 90 days for a progress report regarding health code violations. The Vernon Hills Liquor & License commission on Tuesday made the finding regarding the Peacock Indian Restaurant, 700 N. Milwaukee Ave. Inspections in May showed violations relating to improper storage of potentially hazardous foods, inoperable hand washing sink and no certified food service manager on the premises while food was being prepared. The owner told the commission she had been contracting the business and the operator left suddenly, leaving unpaid bills. A new manager was secured, the staff has been replaced, and the restaurant is complying with requirements, the commission was told. The restaurant was cited for health violations in 2003. “Any other violations you have, you’re done,” Commissioner Cindy Hebda said.
