Perfection in the Park with The Wheaton Municipal Band
Nothing is more perfect, than a beautiful summer Thursday evening in Memorial Park. That's because it is one of the joys of summer in Wheaton. Thousands of people pull up a lawn chair, sit under the stars and listen to the amazing Wheaton Municipal Band. Once again, this week, Thursday, June 21, Dr. Bruce Moss will give the downbeat at 8:00 p.m. and conduct another outstanding performance.
This Thursday, the band celebrates birthdays. Not just any birthday, but centennial birthdays and special anniversaries. There will be a salute to the Girl Scouts 100th. The Oreo Cookie turns 100 this year and Gene Kelly would be 100 this year. Gene Kelly is best known for his performances in “Singin in the Rain,” “An American in Paris,” and “On the Town.” You can bet a medley of his musical favorites will be on the program.
John Williams celebrates a few milestones as well. It is the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway. The band will play the “Midway March” by John Williams and selections from E.T. which celebrates its 30th anniversary.
So, come early, settle in and get in the celebratory spirit. Share the
Thrills of the stirring music performed so expertly by the Wheaton Municipal Band. Thursday, June 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park in Downtown Wheaton.
