Taxes increase when values are down?

Taxes increase when values are down?

When property values were increasing, DuPage County governments used that as an excuse to raise taxes. Now that property values have declined, our property taxes have still gone up.

What is going to happen when our property values start increasing again? Will governments use that as an excuse to raise our property taxes even higher? If they do, we will then be taxed twice on the same property value.

If you don’t think that’s the right thing to do, contact all government officials that draw money from your property taxes, and let them know your dissatisfaction about double taxation.
