Rootin’, tootin’ good time Little Boots Rodeo is fundraiser for District 59 foundation

A fundraiser for the District 59 Educational Foundation this weekend promises to be a bang-up job, especially with Bullet Man there to be shot from a cannon.

The Little Boots Rodeo and Craft and Vendor Show will take place June 23-24 at Arlington Heights Road and Devon Avenue in Elk Grove Village.

It will feature an appearance by Svengoolie (the suburbs’ own Rich Koz); David “The Bullet” Smith, made famous on “America’s Got Talent”; pig and duck races; the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile; Mr. D’s Magic and Illusion Show; a model train show by the LGB Model Railroad Club of Chicago; wagon rides; pony and camel rides; and a petting zoo.

Hours are noon-5 p.m. both days. Proceeds will benefit The District 59 Education Foundation, The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove and Team Chrissy.

At the Little Boots Rodeo, families help their children participate in 12 events in a noncompetitive atmosphere — a shooting gallery, mechanical bull, cow milking, corn stripping, barrel race, bronco riding, lassoing, bows and arrows, panning for gold and more.

Children will be certified as an official Cowboy or Cowgirl onstage, have their name announced over the speaker and receive an award.

A donation of one canned food item is requested for various Elk Grove Township food pantries.

The rodeo is organized and sponsored by the Little Boots Foundation in Elk Grove Village. Certification events entrance fee is $10 per punch card (only one child per punch card). Price includes hot dog and drink.
