Boomers rally to earn sweep

The Schaumburg Boomers erased a 4-1 deficit with 5 runs in the fifth inning on their way to a fourth straight victory to complete a three-game sweep of the Rockford RiverHawks on Saturday.

The Boomers (18-9) have won 10 of their last 12 games as they improved to 13-2 at home with the 8-6 victory.

Eight Boomers contributed at least 1 hit as Frank Pfister belted his third home run in less than 24 hours. Nick Kuroczko reached base in all four plate appearances with 2 singles and 2 walks.

Boomers right-hander Jason Braun improved to 3-0 in relief of starter Cameron Roth as Schaumburg improved to 6-0 in games when Roth starts.

Closer Patrick Mincey worked a scoreless inning to earn his fourth save. In 12 innings in his first professional season, the Francis Marion University alum has yet to allow a run, surrendering just 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 21.
