Round Lake Area Exchange has June military hero
Round Lake Area Exchange Club has selected a Hometown Hero for June.
It’s U.S. Marine Corps. Lance Cpl. Cassondra Leo, a Round Lake Beach resident and 2007 graduate of Round Lake High School.
Leo was registered for this honor by her mother, Leslie Lauritzen of Round Lake Beach. Leo just returned from Afghanistan this month. She had been deployed since last October and has served in the Marines for the last two years.
As is standard practice, Leo will receive a Hanging with the Heroes care package filled with one of her favorites, Rice Krispies treats, along with other snacks and goodies.
All Hanging with the Heroes packages are delivered with a personalized T-shirt and letters from Round Lake Area Unit District 116 students.
Round Lake Area Exchange Club members will present a plaque to the family at an annual installation breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center.
Any military personnel serving overseas or in the United States from any of the Round Lake communities, Hainesville, Fox Lake or Ingleside qualify for the program. You may register someone at rlaexchange.org/hero.
