Motorcyclist dies in Addison crash
Police are investigating the death of a 29-year-old motorcyclist who crashed into a vehicle in Addison early last night. Adam DeMarco was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash, which occurred at about 5:20 p.m. at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Holtz Avenue. Full story.
Family, friends remember Aurora attorney who died after plane crash
Kim Presbrey, who died nearly two months after a Florida plane crash, was remembered Sunday as an outdoorsman, an attorney, a lobbyist, a labor advocate and a family man. Presbrey, who lived in Aurora, was flying an experimental plane that crashed into a Florida grocery store. “He saw the good in everyone,” said longtime friend Bill Weir. “And some of us took some looking. He was one of the finest human beings, one of the most decent of men.” Full story.
Long Grove home damaged in attic fire
Fire officials say a fan in a Long Grove family’s attic sparked a Sunday afternoon fire that left the home uninhabitable. One firefighter suffered a minor ankle injury during the fire, but officials said the blaze was put out quickly and was contained to the attic area. A smoke detector in the attic was hooked up to the rest of the home’s detectors and alerted the residents, who escaped safely. Full story.
State statute protects police chiefs
Gilberts is planning on reducing the number of supervisors in its police force as the department has a 1:1 ratio between supervisor and patrol officers. Officials say the ratio is the result of a state statute that requires departments to keep former police chiefs on staff even if they are fired before their retirement age. Full story.

The line of storms will be hitting the western suburbs later this morning, and bring cooler air behind it as it moves on later tonight. Traffic
An accident on I-290 near Harlem has been cleaned up, and no major crashes have been reported since. Motorists should avoid the railroad crossing on Monaville Road near Lake Villa and Round Lake Beach, which has been shut down for repairs. People can use Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach or Grand Avenue in Lake Villa to get around the shut down. Full story.
