Free Car Wash to be offered by Prospect Marching Knights June 16

Just in time for Father's Day, the Prospect Marching Knights – Prospect High School's marching band and color guard – will hold their annual Car Wash at seven sites in Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights on Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students will provide free car washes at the following locations:

. Brunswick Zone, 824 E. Rand, Rd., Mt. Prospect (next to Wal-Mart)

. Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W Central Ave., Mt. Prospect (Central and Northwest Highway) – Open at noon

. Starck Prudential Realty, 300 W. Golf Rd., Mt. Prospect

. Village Bank and Trust, 320 E Northwest Hwy., Mt. Prospect

. Village Bank and Trust, 311 S. Arlington Hts., Rd., Arlington Hts.

. Thomas Middle School, 1430 N. Belmont (at Arlington Hts. Rd.) Arlington Hts.

While the Car Wash is completely free, students will seek individual sponsors to raise funds. Donations from the public are also welcome. All of the money raised will help defray the costs of the award-winning band's many programs, activities and travels as the state-champion Marching Knights prepare this summer for their 2012 competitive marching season.

“We so appreciate these local businesses who generously offer their locations,” said John Brooks, Car Wash Committee co-chair. “Without their sponsorship, this important fundraising event would not be possible.”

The Prospect Marching Knights (PMK) is a nationally recognized, award-winning marching band of about 160 students from Prospect High School (PHS), in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. In 2012, the PHS music department was designated one of the top six music programs in the nation by the GRAMMY® Foundation. Prospect received the 2012 Grammy® Signature Schools Gold award, in recognition of its demonstrated excellence in music education.
