Police charge 11 in Mt. Prospect mob action

Eleven people police suspect of gang activity — including seven juveniles — have been charged with mob action. They are accused of carrying bats, knives and pellet guns while approaching a group of people at a Mount Prospect apartment complex Thursday night.

Police on bicycle patrol say they observed the armed group at 9:25 p.m. near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Dempster Street. When police rode toward the group, the suspects fled in various directions, according to a news release from the Mount Prospect Police Department.

Officers say they discovered one of those charged had shot two female juveniles with a pellet gun. Their injuries were described as minor and they were treated at the scene.

Police say they also recovered a number of weapons in the area.

Those arrested and charged with mob action and contributing to the delinquency of a minor include:

타 Edgar Vences, 19, of the 1800 block of West Knightsbridge Drive.

All four posted bond and are due in court July 25.
