Your news Dryden School principal retires after 15 years of service

Dr. Bob Jares retired at the end of the 2011-2012 school year after 15 years as the principal of Dryden School. Throughout his career at Dryden, Dr. Jares has been supportive of students and staff as he has helped to build a strong, caring community of learners.

Throughout his tenure, he oversaw a major addition to Dryden School, many Spirit Days, musicals, and great learning by students everyday. He has been a dedicated advocate for the use of technology. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive LCD projector and Mimio. Nearly 100 iPads allow students within an entire grade level to have access to the devices at the same time.

Dr. Jares’ career was celebrated in many ways as the school year came to a close, as students, parents, and teachers sought to honor him and his many contributions to the community of Dryden School. In May, staff and students celebrated “Dress Like Dr. Jares Day” by dressing in shirts and ties, dress pants, and glasses! Miss O’Sullivan’s second grade class also sported coffee cups from McDonald’s, a staple of Dr. Jares’ weekday wardrobe.

PTA recognized Dr. Jares with a beautiful framed watercolor of Dryden School painted by parent, Fran Hyland. He said of the painting, “I will take that and all of the wonderful memories of PTA events with me as a reminder of the special place that we have created for the children.” PTA also sponsored an all school assembly, where Dr. Jares presented the school with a stained glass dolphin scene, representing the school mascot. He entitled it, “Have a Great Dolphin Day!” recalling morning announcements which are concluded with those very words each day.

The Dryden community will miss Dr. Jares and he is certainly wished well in his retirement.
