Mount Prospect to Host Health Fair

The Village of Mount Prospect is holding a Health Fair Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at John Jay Elementary School, 1835 Pheasant Lane, Mount Prospect.

The fair will feature free health screenings by doctors, nurses and chiropractors for adults, children and seniors including blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, body mass index calculations, eye exams, scoliosis and flexibility testing, injury screenings, massage therapy, and caregiver stress. Zumba dance for youth and adults, and various sports games for children will be part of the fair promoting exercise as a part of a healthy routine.

Additionally, local health agencies and care providers will be present giving information on a variety of health topics including cancer, tuberculosis, foot health, memory loss, breast feeding, nutrition, literacy, home preparedness in case of an emergency, mental health, youth programming, domestic violence, and infant-child passenger safety.

Some of the providers and agencies that will present include: Cook County Department of Public Health and Tuberculosis Clinic, Accelerated Rehabilitation Center, Catholic Charities, Dental Design Studio, IDOT Division of Traffic Safety – Chicago Traffic Safety Resource Center, Innate Concepts, Miller Foot Centers, Mt. Prospect Park District, Mount Prospect Medical Reserve Corps, Northwest Community Hospital Community Services, Rainbow Hospice, Dr. Deb Sander D.C., Vista Linda Eye Care, Access Community Health Network, District 214 Community Education, Mount Prospect Public Library, Elk Grove Youth Services, Boy Scouts Northwest Suburban Council, Girl Scouts – Illinois Crossroad Council, Between Friends, Children's Advocacy Center, Northwest Suburban Alliance on Domestic Violence, Mount Prospect Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services, Mount Prospect Police Department, Mount Prospect Human Services.
