COD agreement
College of DuPage Faculty Association officials reached a tentative contract agreement with the administration's bargaining team early Saturday. Days before a contract imposed by COD's board of trustees was set to take effect, the tentative deal was struck just after midnight — the result of bargaining sessions on Thursday and Friday that lasted a combined 25 hours, said Faculty Association President Glenn Hansen. Services planned for Bartlett boy
Memorial services will be in St. Charles this week for an 11-year-old boy killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Bartlett. Visitation for Samuel Sloan-Mannella is planned for 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. Friday. Full story.

A Streamwood staple is no longer. Mainstreet USA Roller Skating Center closed May 19 after struggling to keep up with taxes and bills, but that didn't stop co-owner Steve Rollins from keeping it open one extra hour beyond what had been announced. Full story.

Temperatures Sunday broke a 101-year-old record at O'Hare International Airport. The National Weather Service reported Sunday afternoon that temperatures had reached 96 at O'Hare. The previous record had been 94 degrees, which happened in 1911. Full story.
Bill based on Elgin case moves to full House
The Illinois House soon will discuss a plan to prevent school violence that was prompted by an Elgin case in which a teacher was stabbed. Glen Ellyn teen fights for Panama in Summer Olympics
At age 4, Carolena Carstens joined a kickboxing club in her hometown of Glen Ellyn thanks to her parents, who thought it would be good for her physical development. By age 14, she was competing in international taekwondo events. Now 16, Carstens, will get the chance to compete in her sport on the biggest platform in the world: the Olympics. She'll represent Panama, where she has dual citizenship. Full story.
Aurora man dies two months after plane crash
An Aurora man who was seriously injured when his experimental plane crashed into a Florida grocery store died Saturday, nearly two months after the crash. Kim Presbrey, a prominent attorney, died at Loyola University Medical Center from multiple injuries suffered in the crash, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Full story.
Pension problems
Former Oak Brook police chief Thomas Sheahan's pension could be reduced as the Illinois Senate approved legislation that would strike down a pension-sweetening law that boosted what he receives by more than $30,000. The legislation from state Sen. Kirk Dillard would repeal the pension booster, which he says was created just for Sheahan and largely hidden from view. Full story

Woman injured in Fox Lake boat crash
A Crystal Lake man has been charged with operating under the influence after the boat he was driving collided with another vessel in Fox Lake Saturday night, seriously injuring one woman, according to police. Six people were onboard the pontoon boat, and a 37-year-old woman was thrown into the water in Myers Bay due to the collision, police said. Full story.
Athletes taste #8216;Adventure' in Aurora
More than 100 people ran, biked and paddled their way Sunday through the inaugural Amped Up Adventure Race in downtown Aurora. The event, a first for the city, raised money for a redesigned canoe chute on the Fox River. The race, which featured roughly eight miles of biking, six miles of running, four miles of canoeing/kayaking and, at the very end, an obstacle course, raised money for a redesigned canoe chute on the Fox River. #8220;The river is a great asset to this community, and letting people canoe to this part of town would really help all the redevelopment efforts around here,#8221; said Therese Oldenburg, of Paddle And Trail.
