Holmes Jr. High Gives Back

On Tuesday June 5th the staff and students of Holmes Junior High School in Mount Prospect will be participating in a full day of community service. As students pass from class to class they will be given different projects to benefit some segment of the community. The theme for the day is:

H Homeless

O Outreach organizations

L Literacy

M Military Veterans

E Elderly

S Saluting Heroes GIVES BACK

Mount Prospect Mayor Irvana Wilks will be in attendance to kick off the day by appearing on Holmes TV during morning announcements and by joining in some of the classroom projects. Fire Chief John Malcolm and Police Chief John Dahlberg are also expected to make an appearance.

Some of the activities include making items for residents at Friendship Village, making gifts for PADS shelters, reading to and making study aids for younger students at John Jay and Forest View Elementary Schools, providing a free community car wash (8:30-10:30 a.m.), making cards and writing letters to veterans involved in the Honor Flight, and making items to donate to veterans at Hines Hospital as well as those on active duty in Afghanistan. It will be a great day of service and a worthy life lesson for the students of Holmes Junior High School!

Holmes Jr. High is located at 1900 Lonnquist Blvd. in Mt. Prospect.
