Fox Valley Rep academy offers youth chance to work with theater professionals
May 2012, St. Charles, IL – The Fox Valley Rep Performing Arts Academy is proud to offer a new advanced audition-only program for the best and the brightest young talent ages 9-12 as well as the return of the program for youth ages 13-18. Each week a different industry professional will guest at FVR to teach an intensive workshop on a discipline including on-camera acting, monologues, improv, and audition technique for theatre. Some of the guests include Katie Killacky from O'Connor Casting, Becca Knights-McCracken from Simon Casting, and Michael McCracken from the Shirley Hamilton Agency.
Fox Valley Rep offers classes for ages 3 to 18 years old ranging from acting to improv to musical theater. These classes offer a hands-on theatrical experience where students learn by doing, not by lecture. "For ages 3 to 18 years old, we have the most extensive offering of classes in the Fox Valley area," says Education Manager Tracy Whiteside. "Whether you enjoy singing, comedy, musical theater, or want to try it out for the very first time – we definitely have something here for you."
FVR Academy Teaching Artists come from all over the Chicago area and are experienced, award-winning professionals in their field. The academy also was recently awarded as "The Best Day Camp" by Daily Herald readers.
SUMMER AUDITIONS
"WIZARD OF OZ" Kids Summer 2012 Musical

Ages: 7-11
Open Auditions:
Saturday, June 2 from 10am - 1pm Pheasant Run Mainstage or
Monday, June 4 from 5 - 8pm Rembrandt Room in Gallery Hall
Memorize a 30-second monologue. Prepare 16 bars of a song from a similar style show. Bring CD with backing tracks.
Tween and Teen Master Acting Classes
Ages: 9-12 and 13-18
Open Auditions:
Saturday, June 2 from 12-1pm Pheasant Run Mainstage or
Monday, June 4 from 7-8pm Rembrandt Room in Gallery Hall
Prepare and memorize a 1-minute monologue. Bring a professional 8 x 10 headshot attached to a proper actor's resume.
