Lisle's Navistar earns economic development award
Two business groups have announced the annual Edie Awards for economic development in Illinois.
The Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Development Council announced the awards Wednesday. The awards showcase recent projects that translate into more jobs, tax base and economic vitality in Illinois.
The winners include Arch Street Artisan in the central Illinois community of Atlanta, a shop that opened in January of 2011 to provide a place for local crafts people to market and sell their products. The shop increased sales tax revenue for the city and provided a fun shopping experience for locals and visitors alike.
Other winners are: Chrysler's Belvidere Assembly Plant; Finkl Steel Plant in Chicago; Navistar Headquarters in Lisle; and Testa Produce Distribution Center in Chicago.
