New member joins District 96 school board
James Strezewski of Buffalo Grove was appointed to the Kildeer-Countryside Elementary District 96 school board Wednesday, filling the vacancy left by Don Shannon, who resigned last month.
Four candidates submitted applications to fill the seat. Strezewski will hold the position through the next available election on April 9, 2013.
A CPA with “an extensive background in public accounting and an understanding of global accounting issues,” according to a District 96 news release, Strezewski is senior vice president/national director of LaSalle Investment Management (Jones Lang LaSalle).
He and his wife, Nina, have lived in Buffalo Grove for 10 years and their children attend District 96 schools.
“Jim Strezewski is deeply committed to our district and the community,” said Superintendent Julie Schmidt. “His professional background is an asset in his role as a fiscal steward for the District 96 community.”
Board President Marc Tepper believes Strezewski will be an effective contributor.
“Jim embraces the district’s mission to help every child achieve his or her maximum potential,” he said. “He brings a financial acumen and a long-term vision that will serve the community — and our students — very well.”
