Mother's Day tea brings cheers and tears to Holy Family Academy

Tissue paper flowers, coffee filter hats and songs that touch a mother's heart - it must be Holy Family Academy's Kindergarten Mother's Day Tea!

This group of bright-faced and oh, so smart kindergarten students treated their number one fans to a "secret recipe" homemade cake and songs they practiced to perfection.

Not only were the guests of honor touched by the effort the children had put into their special event, but they also couldn't help but notice the changes they saw in their soon-to- be-first grade students.

Becky Aretos of Palatine commented, "It seems like Mia just started kindergarten yesterday! Now she's reading, writing stories and has confidence to perform for a roomful of moms."

Mrs. Cheryl Russo, kindergarten teacher added, "I get all teary when I think how much these little angels have learned and grown since school began."

Holy Family Academy's full-day kindergarten program gives kindergarten students twice as much time to get ready for first grade academically as well as socially.

"I truly love teaching kindergarten because our students truly seem to blossom and come into full bloom this time of year. It is such an amazing transformation!" added teacher, Mrs. Ellen Applegate.

While a few moms were tearful during the Mother's Day Tea, Becky Aretos, already a two-time veteran of Holy Family's kindergarten program shared a word to the wise - bring plenty of tissues to the next big event -- Holy Family's kindergarten graduation!
