Wheeling Orchesis to perform at dance festival

Wheeling High School Orchesis has been selected to perform at the prestigious Illinois High School Dance Festival Saturday, May 19.

This year’s festival, a full day of workshops and master classes, culminating in a student choreography showcase, will be held at Buffalo Grove High School, Arlington Heights and Dundee roads in Buffalo Grove.

Choreographed by Wheeling High School junior Chelsie Coren, White Winter Hymnal will feature Orchesis performers Coren, Kaitlyn Nielsen and Jami Kahn.

The festival is the finale of a busy year for Wheeling Orchesis, featuring performances in Dance Chicago last November, main stage concerts, hosting a benefit for AIDS charities that raised more than $15,000, winning a Pepsi Challenge Grant, and selection in the National High School Dance Festival Gala concert in Philadelphia in March.
