Photographs of Libertyville Sought for Libertyville Days Photo Exhibit

With more electronic devices than ever capable of capturing photographic images, artists can create images which express their vision with ease. The Libertyville Days Festival will be showcasing images of hometown spirit during the 2nd Annual Photo Exhibition being held on Sunday, June 17th between noon and 4pm in the Brainerd Building. The exhibition, called "Capture the Spirit," has a special category for pictures of Libertyville. "When families and friends gather to celebrate our community during the festival, we are hosting an exhibition to show what people love about their hometown," says Jill Harkaway, organizer the exhibition. "Libertyville Days showcases the talent, creativity and skills of local residents through talent shows, cookie bake-offs, musicians, and an arts & crafts fair. We have added an opportunity for photographers to see their work displayed in a gallery."

The exhibition is open to amateurs, enthusiastic hobbyist and professionals. Lou Nettlehorst and Jim Christenson, professional photographers and educators, will act as jurors for the exhibit. Categories for submission include nature, people, digital art, documentary, sports, and more with each category focused on capturing the spirit, or essence, of the subject. While there is a category for images taken in Libertyville, photographs do not need to be taken in the village for submission. A full list of categories is listed in the prospectus available at www.libciviccenter.org/festival2012 or at the Libertyville Civic Center. There is an entry fee of $15 for three images. Entries are due by June 2nd. For more information email BrainerdExhibition@comcast.net or call (847) 804 0914.
