U-46 School News for Week of May 7

Friday is School Improvement Day (SIP) and therefore no classes will be held in U-46.

Abbott Middle School

On Thursday, the Honors Band Festival concert will be performed at 7 p.m. at South Elgin High School.

Canton Middle School

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Orchestra will present their Spring Concert in the school gym. Also participating will be the feeder schools which include Glenbrook, Hanover Countryside, Oakhill and Ridge Circle elementary schools.

The concert will feature guest dancers from the Visual and Performing Arts Academy based at Larkin High School. The dancers will perform The Waltz of the Danube and the Broadway number, “New York, New York”, accompanied by the 7th and 8th grade Canton Orchestra. All participating elementary and middle school orchestra students will receive this year's service pin/medal.

Tefft Middle School

On Tuesday, the Band students will perform a concert in the school auditorium at 7 p.m. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult and $6 per family. Senior citizens 62 years of age and over are free.

On Thursday, a Talent Show will be presented at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is $5 per person.

Century Oaks Elementary

On Thursday, a Spring Dance will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. This dance is only for students in grades 4-6.

Clinton Elementary

On Thursday from 6-8 p.m., the PTO is sponsoring a Fine Arts Night and Ice Cream Social at the school. The Clinton Choir will perform in the music room at 6:30 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday evening, Clinton Family Night at the Kane County Cougars Stadium will take place beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Laurel Hill Elementary

On Monday, an all school Spring Sing will be held at the Bartlett High School auditorium. Students in grades 1-3 will perform at 6 p.m.; students in grades 3-6 will perform at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, the “Crossroads After School Kid's Club” will meet in the gym from 2:00-3:30 p.m.

Students must pre-register to participate in games and other fun activities.

Also on Tuesday, a Health Clinic will be held at the school from 3-6 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get those kindergarten, 6th grade and high school physicals done. For questions, please call the school office at 630-213-5580.

Also on Tuesday, the Scholastic Book Fair will have a Family Night from 3-6 p.m. in the Learning Center.

Following the Book Fair, students in grades 5-6 will perform a Band concert at Tefft Middle School at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, an open gym, sponsored by Hanover Township, will be held from 2-6 p.m. in the multi-purpose room and gym.

Prairieview Elementary

On Wednesday, the primary MLP class is hosting a Mother's Day Tea from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The intermediate MLP class is hosting a Mother's Day Tea from 11 a.m. -12 p.m.

Sheridan Elementary

On Thursday, the PTO will sponsor a combination Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day celebration from 6-9 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Authentic Mexican food will be available for purchase as well as games and a traditional Folklore Mexican dance performed by the students.

Washington Elementary

On Tuesday evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m., all Washington families are invited to participate in the first Math Night at Jewel. Families will work on grade level activity sheets that correspond with Everyday Math concepts using real life shopping experiences at Jewel. Families that attend will be entered into a raffle with a chance to win a $50 gift card.
