Promises of help coming up empty

Where is the foreclosure “help” we were promised from the president and our own attorney general? With all the programs to help us, why are the banks still foreclosing? How many more empty houses do we need in our neighborhoods?

I am a product of our economy, fighting foreclosure, as so many others that are unemployed or underemployed. The programs to “help” people in this situation are not living up to what we are being told. I have gone to all of them. Many of us are “not eligible” for many of these programs.

The people we are counting on to help us are desensitized; they are so immune to our situation that they treat us with no respect — we are just one of many in the same situation. We are relying on these people to help us save our houses, and we are at their mercy because we are so desperate to keep our families in our homes.

I have been in my home for over 22 years and I only owe half of what it is worth. The other half is equity, but this does not seem to matter to any of these “help programs.”

When are we really going to get the help we need to stay in our homes? It is so hard to be proud to be an American when our own people are not helping us live the American dream of owning a home, the home we have been in for years.
