Flower Program Aims to Empower Local Girls

Even the youngest girl needs help to become a future leader in her community! Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois plans to empower these girls with the Girl Scout Journey program Destination: Amazing Daisy, every other Thursday, May 10–August 16, 4–5:30 P.M. at Collie Flower Farm, 1104 Alpine Lane in Woodstock. The program is based on the Girl Scout Journey book Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden.

This girls-only program will teach kindergarten and first graders about day-to-day activities on a flower farm. Girls will learn about planting and have a chance to get their hands dirty! While they're busy digging, they'll also encounter the positive values found in the Girl Scout Promise and Law. The program will focus on the leadership philosophy of girls discovering themselves and their values, connecting by caring and teamwork and taking action to improve their community and the world. The program will end with a Daisy Garden Flower Party!

The program is open to all non-Girl Scouts in kindergarten and first grade. Program fee is $20 per girl and includes Girl Scout registration, all activities and a Journey book. Financial assistance is available. To register, please contact Melissa Schmidt at 847-741-5521, Ext. 7171 or mschmidt@girlscoutsni.org.
