Cameras still rolling as crashes increase

The problem with facts is they don’t lie. No matter how the red-light camera companies and cash-strapped municipalities like to spin it, the facts are clear: Red-light cameras increase accidents.

The city of Des Plaines installed red-light camera enforcement approximately one year ago. In that time the city has made hundreds of thousands of dollars and accidents have increased over 50 percent. The village has indicated it needs more time to study the issue.

If this camera was not such a cash windfall, do you think they would need more time? The fact is that city officials are addicted like a drug addict to the revenue, and they do not care how many people get injured to satisfy their cash habit. It is a scary time in our country’s history when local governments are willing to risk people’s lives for money.
