Trade food for fines at Palatine library
The Palatine Public Library District is offering a Food for Fines campaign beginning Monday, April 30 through Friday, June 1.
This program will help patrons clear their accounts and give back to the community at the same time. Patrons that bring in at least one can or jar of food and pay half of their fines, will have the remaining balance of the fine waived.
Library services and programs are available to patrons who owe less than $5 in fines and fees. This is a great way to help ensure patrons can continue to participate in all of the services and programs the Library has to offer like the upcoming Summer Reading Program which begins on Friday, June 1.
Food for Fines does not include waiving fees for lost or damaged items or charges assessed for the collection agency.
All food items will be donated to the Palatine Township Food Pantry. Items especially needed include peanut butter, jelly and tomato products. (Please no pet food, unlabeled, perishable, or expired/damaged items.)
Palatine Public Library District (www.palatinelibrary.org) serves some 90,000 residents predominantly within the communities of Palatine and Hoffman Estates.
The mission of the library is to encourage lifelong learning and enrichment through the exploration of books and other media and to provide services and materials which will promote a well-informed and literate community.
