Bartlett, Streamwood claim tourney titles

The Bartlett softball team continued its recent roll Saturday, beating Glenbrook South 8-1 and Chicago Lane Tech 13-0 to win the Rolling Meadows tournament.

Bartlett has now won 7 straight and 17 of its last 18.

Hawks pitchers allowed just 1 hit in each game Saturday while the offense produced 25 hits.

Amanda Montbriand (7-0 beat Glenbrook South, striking out 3 and walking 1. Alex Morales was 4-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI and Steph Tomazin went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Hawks.

In the championship game, Tori Burke (11-3) went 5 innings with 9 strikeouts and no walks. Tomazin was 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI and Kayla Haberstich drove in 2 runs.

The wins send Bartlett into a big week of Upstate Eight Valley play. The Hawks, 10-0 in the league, play Neuqua Valley (8-1) and Lake Park (8-2) on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

“It’s a big week for us,” said Hawks coach Jim Wolfsmith. “We’ll just take them one at a time and hopefully we’ll continue to play well.”

Streamwood wins BG Slugfest: The Sabres pulled off a 3-2 upset of No. 8 Warren then beat Vernon Hills 7-2 to win the Buffalo Grove Slugfest. Kaitlyn Hedger scattered 5 hits to beat Warren. Brittany Delao was 2-for-3 with her second home run in as many days for the Sabres and Kaylee Jambor went 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Dani Fisher also had a double. In the win over Vernon Hills, Kellee Conquest threw a 3-hitter for Streamwood (7-13). Delao went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI and Jambor was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
