U-46 School News for Week of April 30

Larkin High School

On Thursday, the Spring Orchestra Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult and $6 per family.

Tefft Middle School

On Tuesday, the Orchestra Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult and $6 per family.

On Friday, a Cinco de Mayo Dance will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the school.

Century Oaks Elementary

On Tuesday, staff and students will meet and welcome the new principal Ms. Hammond at an Ice Cream Social. The event will be held in the multi-purpose room from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Glenbrook Elementary

On Friday, the school will host its first Heritage Night to celebrate all the cultures that the school represents. The event is from 6-9 p.m. at the school. Ethnic foods, music and crafts will be available. Admission is $7 per person at the door.

Heritage Elementary

On Friday, a Kermes Festival will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the school. It is a traditional Latin American celebration to celebrate the end of the school year. It is a charity fair to raise money-part “bake sale” and part “fun fair.” Enjoy great food including hot dogs and burgers, music, dancing, face painting, games and inflatables. A game like Bingo called Loteria will also be played.

Lowrie Elementary

On Thursday, a Cinco de Mayo celebration sponsored by the PTA will be held from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the school. The whole family can enjoy entertainment and food. Tacos from Charles' Fast Food, tamales from Elgin Fresh Market, and nachos and cocktail corn will be served. The public is welcome!

On Friday, Career Awareness Day will be held as part of the school's No Excuses University. Community members will visit classrooms to talk to students about how their education prepared them for their career.

Sheridan Elementary

On Monday, the Spring Sing (most students are participating with the exception of kindergartners and students in grade 4) will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Elgin High School.
