Time to play at Barrington Area Kid Fest
To celebrate June as Leave No Child Inside month, the first Barrington Area Kid Fest — a fun-filled event combining the 11th annual Community Kite Fly and second annual Family Nature Fest — will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in Citizens Park, 511 Lake Zurich Road (at Route 14) in Barrington.
This family-oriented event is hosted by the Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club, the Barrington Park District, and Leave No Child Inside of the Greater Barrington and Lake Zurich area, three community-oriented and nonprofit organizations. If inclement weather occurs, the event will be rescheduled to Sunday, May 6, at the same time and location.
Those organizations along with Leave No Child Inside members and supporters such as the Barrington Area Conservation Trust, Barrington Area Library, Barrington Cultural Arts Center, Boy and Girl Scouts, Care of Trees, Chicago Wilderness, Citizens for Conservation, Cook County Forest Preserve/Crabtree Nature Center, Davis Speed Center, Erehwon, Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation, Friends of Spring Creek/Forest Preserve, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Indian Guides Miami Nation, Lake County Forest Preserve, Language Stars, Nature Ladies, Quilt by Association, Ride for 3 Reasons, Smart Farm, South Barrington Conservancy, Water’s Edge Waldorf School, and more will provide a wide assortment of action-packed recreational and educational activities designed for families to get outside with nature, have fun and get fit. Be sure to bring your bicycle to decorate and then ride through Cuba Marsh to experience the beauty of nature. Oh, and did we say to come and enjoy the kite flying?
While you’re there, enjoy some delicious food for purchase, check out the raffles, and celebrate spring outside under the sun. Proceeds to benefit area nonprofits.
