Naperville boy, 16, gets 6 years for home invasion
A 16-year-old Naperville boy has been sentenced to six years in prison for forcing his way into a neighbor's apartment in a scheme to steal drugs or money.
Brandon Reynolds, of the 1400 block of Fairway Drive, pleaded guilty to home invasion and was sentenced Tuesday by DuPage County Judge Daniel Guerin.
Reynolds was one of four suspects charged in a robbery last June in which a 24-year-old Naperville woman and her 1-year-old child were threatened with a sawed-off shotgun.
Prosecutors said the foursome went to the apartment of the woman, who lived nearby, believing her boyfriend would have cash and drugs on hand.
Once inside, the suspects pushed the victim to the ground and put a shotgun to the head of her infant, who slept through the ordeal, according to court records.
The suspects ended up fleeing with electronics equipment and a cellphone, authorities said.
Reynolds, then 15, was arrested the night of the robbery and charged as an adult. Co-defendants Kendyl Gill of Aurora, Clarence Guyton of Naperville, and Robert L. Jackson of Bolingbrook were arrested two days later.
Court records show Guyton, 20, and Jackson, 25, pleaded guilty in January to attempted armed robbery and home invasion, respectively. Guyton received 10 years in prison while Jackson — who acted as driver and lookout — was given six.
Gill has pleaded not guilty to armed robbery, home invasion and residential burglary. His next court date is May 15.
