Dist. 214 wins national award

Township High School District 214 was honored with a Sunny Award for having one of the most transparent government websites in the country. The award was given to only 214 government websites, 19 in Illinois.

Sunshine Review, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to government transparency, gave the award to government entities whose website contained thorough and accessible information.

More than 6,000 government websites were graded on a 10-point transparency checklist, including budgets, meetings, contracts, and academic performance.

“The Sunny Awards recognizes school districts and state and local governments that are doing an exemplary job of proactively disclosing information to taxpayers,” said Michael Barnhart, president of Sunshine Review.
