Grand Funk Railroad to play Schaumburg’s Septemberfest

Grand Funk Railroad is the first main stage act being named for this year’s Septemberfest in Schaumburg.

The village board will consider a contract next Tuesday for the band to be paid $33,000 to perform at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 on Schaumburg’s municipal grounds, 101 Schaumburg Court.

The expenditure comes out of a performance budget of $55,000.

The rock band is best known for a series of hits in the early and mid 1970s, including “We’re an American Band,” “The Loco-Motion,” and “Some Kind of Wonderful.”
