West Chicago mayor has heart attack

West Chicago Mayor Mike Kwasman suffered a heart attack early Saturday and is undergoing treatment at Central DuPage Hospital.

No further details have been released, according to a statement from the suburb.

Kwasman has been instrumental in guiding economic policy that has seen a growth in needed retail development.

He has served as alderman of the fifth ward, and as chairman of the Development Committee for the past 4 years, during which time, the city has experienced commercial growth.
