Library Appreciation Week a huge success

Everyone at Literacy DuPage extends a heartfelt thank you to all 20-plus libraries in DuPage County during Library Appreciation Week. By providing tutoring space, community awareness, and many other resources, our partner libraries help extend Literacy DuPage’s ability to provide critical literacy tutoring for adults in DuPage County.

Proof is in the numbers: Eight libraries host bi-weekly and one library hosts weekly English conversation groups year-’round. That’s more than 2,400 hours of free meeting room space; each year, 13 libraries provide 312 hours of meeting room space free for hosting Literacy DuPage tutor trainings; over 400 tutoring pairs meet at their local library year-round for two hours each week; each year, four libraries provide 16 hours of meeting room space free for quarterly in-service workshops; every library listed below participated in International Literacy Day through special posters, volunteer tables, and more. Thank you to these libraries: Addison, Aurora (Eola Road branch), Bensenville, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Glenside, Glendale Heights, Helen M. Plum (Lombard), Hinsdale, Indian Prairie, Darien, Itasca, Lisle, Naperville (Naper Boulevard, Nichols and 95th Street), Oak Brook, Plainfield, Roselle, Villa Park, Warrenville, West Chicago, Westmont, Wheaton, Winfield, Wood Dale, Woodridge.

By working together we not only reach and increase the quality of lives of the adults in our communities; but we are increasing the quality of lives for our families.
