Spalding, Chokski lift Grayslake Central
Lauren Spalding’s second-half goal and Kajal Chokski’s 8 saves in net lifted Grayslake Central’s girls soccer team to a 1-0 win over host Vernon Hills on Wednesday.
Alex Wilson earned the assist on Spalding’s goal.
“This was a good win for the girls,” Rams coach Mike McCaulou said. “I think it showed that playing a tough nonconference schedule can pay dividends against a good Vernon Hills squad this time of the year. We were proud of the effort.”
Vernon Hills fell to 3-3.
Lake Zurich 9, North Chicago 0: Morgan Dakarian scored twice for the Bears in the North Suburban Conference crossover.
Lake Zurich (4-2) also got goals from Vanesa Abad, Meaghan Gelinas, Jordan Jackson, Gabrielle Luurs, Blair Coughenour, Beth Schleich and Claire Skowron.
Luurs added a pair of assists. Gelinas, Jackson, Catalina Abad and Skowron also had assists. Eleanor Daleske and Cathryne Spear shared the shutout in goal.
Round Lake 7, Woodlands Academy 1: Morgin Evins scored 4 goals for the Panthers in the nonconference game.
Bianca Mahoney added a pair of goals for Round Lake, and Elizabeth Salgado also found the back of the net for the Panthers, who led only 2-1 at halftime.
