Help send a child to camp or Special Olympics

Submitted by NISRA

Send a child with a disability to day camp, a Special Olympics athlete to tournaments, or help purchase a wheelchair-accessible bus to transport a disabled veteran to a fitness center.

The Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association Foundation’s 17th annual Holiday Fashion Show & Christmas Tree Raffle benefits these purposes and more.

It will be Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Holiday Inn, Route 31 and Three Oaks Road in Crystal Lake. The day, featuring a lunch, fashion show, silent auction, and opportunities to win a fully decorated tree and other items, is expected to sell out quickly. The doors open at 10:30 a.m., lunch is served at 12:30 p.m., and the fashion show begins at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each or $60 for premier seats closer to the runway, and proceeds benefit the NISRA’s year-round recreation programs for local children and adults with disabilities. Call NISRA at (815) 459-0737 for information or to make a reservation.

Each tree and its theme-related gifts is valued at approximately $2,000, and BK Boats and Sleds will deliver to winners within NISRA’s service area. Old World Gem & Jewelry in McHenry is giving a diamond solitaire pendant for the jewelry raffle.

To date, local retailers providing fashions and jewelry for the show are Tradewinds, Grassroots, Alpine Accessories, Lulu’s Wiggin Out, Tommy Terri Shop, and Maurices in McHenry, with more to come.

Contributions are tax-deductible. Call (815) 459-0737 or visit nisra.org and NISRA’s Facebook page for information.
