Warrenville man faces gun charge after domestic dispute
A Warrenville man is accused of firing a one bullet through a house wall and another into a tree during a domestic dispute Wednesday, authorities said.
No one was injured in the incident, Warrenville Police Deputy Chief David Schar said Thursday.
Anthony J. Devitto IV, 32, of the 1S700 block of Route 59, faces a felony charge of reckless discharge of a firearm and misdemeanor domestic battery for the incident at a residence along Route 59 in Warrenville.
Schar said Devitto was not aiming at people and is accused of shooting one round while inside the home during an argument at around 1:16 p.m., and firing another shot while outside the home that wound up in a tree.
By the time Warrenville police arrived, he was gone, though authorities learned he might be headed to North Aurora.
Devitto was pulled over and arrested about 15 minutes later in the 700 block of Hidden Creek Lane, North Aurora Police Lt. Scott Buziecki said.
Buziecki said police recovered a loaded .38-caliber revolver from Devitto’s sedan and Devitto did not have a Firearm Owners Identification Card.
Devitto also is charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in Kane County, according to court records.
The most serious charge he faces carries a top prison term of seven years if convicted.
According to court records, Devitto has numerous traffic violations, along with a felony retail theft conviction in 2008 in Kane County that resulted in a two-year prison term.
His bail was set at $10,000 in DuPage County.
His next court dates in Wheaton and St. Charles regarding the current charges were not immediately available.
Devitto is due in Kane County court April 17 on misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana by Geneva police.
