Will Blackhawks' lines be changing?

It's a conundrum.

You're the Blackhawks and you're possibly getting your best player back in the lineup, yet the lines you've been using lately in his absence have been rolling along pretty well.

So just how do you adjust the lines when/if Jonathan Toews returns?

“We'll see. Right now the lines … we've been pretty consistent with the number of games they've all played together and have had some pretty good rotations in our lines,” coach Joel Quenneville said. “I don't really want to change too much of the looks or the personnel of the lines.

“Let's hope that Johnny coming in gives you a different look as far as an option of where he's going to fit.”

Looking good:

Missing 20 straight games has given Jonathan Toews ample opportunity to watch his teammates battle, and the captain likes what he has seen.

“I think we've learned a lot over the last year,” Toews said. “I think at this point we're finally realizing what we're capable of as a team, and if we play the right way, we play together, we're a tough team to beat.”

Night moves:

If you were watching rookie Andrew Shaw's tussle with Minnesota's Cody Almond on Sunday, you might have noticed midway through that Shaw turned to a now familiar move — the jersey jab — which has been used to great benefit by another Hawks rookie, Brandon Bollig.

“I was yelling at him from the bench to start to do it and he started doing it,” Bollig said with a smile.

Programming note:

The radio broadcast of the Blackhawks' regular-season finale Saturday at Detroit (noon) has been switched to WMVP 1000-AM.

Tip-ins:

Andrew Brunette (lower body) is possible for Thursday's game. …The Hawks have allowed 234 goals this season. To put that in perspective, St. Louis has allowed 156. The 2003-04 New Jersey Devils hold the NHL record for fewest allowed with 164.

He said it:

“Worked out and just … not a whole lot. I walked the dogs a lot.”
